International Avicenna Award of Excellence in Teaching and Research in Medical Sciences
According to the proposal and concept of the President and founder of scientific complexes of the VIA, Prof. Dr . Alireza Ranjbar, in 2006 the executive board has decided to honor the people who have contributed remarkably to the teaching and research in medical sciences with „ International Avicenna Award of Excellence in Teaching and Research in Medical Sciences" of the VIA.
In 2009 the successful realization and continuous implementation of this scientific concept has been integrated into the constitution of the VIA as the highest scientific award of the VIA.
At the same time the award should be a reminiscence to the genius – Avicenna (980-1037), the great Iranian physician, philosopher, mathematician, mineralogist, geologist, poet and author of 450 books on various scientific fields. The innovative and integrated traditions in medicine, natural sciences and philosophy are inextricably linked with his name and should be kept alive and disseminated.
